Quarters Qualifiers and fixtures will be coming up next.
Meanwhile, Crescent, let's just hang in there and give the Evergreen game our best shot. Score and score and repeat 18237 more times. We WILL get in, we must believe in ourselves and our team. We must believe in Nordin.
As a new chapter begins..
(Shut up, I know the first line is cheesy)
Fixtures state that this coming Tuesday(15 Feb) is our first match of the Hockey Season 2005. People always say, a good start is halfway to success, which is precisely why we want to win this match, right?
For the past two months or so, we've been running, training, just learning under the sun or in the rain. All in preparation for this tournament which we've been waiting for. Together with Nordin, we purged our guts out sprinting, striding, jogging or prefecting our basics, under no circumstances would we want to throw all our plans away, agree?
Remember all those trash talk about how we will go to a JC and the coach will bench the J2s just so we could dominate the pitch? This will never ever come through if we did not achieve any honourable heights this year.
Remember how fucked we were the day after we crashed out of Tournament '04? Remember the times Nordin verbally bashed us up because we were too complacent to seek improvement? Remember running the horrendous journey of 8-16 times round the pitch? Remember being deadbeat after a single torturous training session? These will happen over and over again until we achieve what we set out for.
Remember how we fought to win Pesta Sukan 2004 just to justify our loss earlier in the year? Remember how we stayed together despite ostracism and criticism from people-who-hate-us? Remember the number of times we were individually denied of our rights because we came from Hockey?
Memories will remain memories. Past achievements will remain past achievements. The unjust will remain unjust. But if we could work together, as a team, like we should be, things might just work our way. And this time round, our agenda is to 'conquer' all that are against us. Meaning, our opponent. We want to work hard, and have that thirst/hunger for the champions trophy in our hearts, the determination to win in our minds.
Most of all, we need to have trust in Nordin, and the belief that he can bring us to our desired result.
On another note, we have disappointed him, and ourselves enough. I mean, don't you feel any guilt when you play like shit in an important game? When you actually pay attention to how Nordin acts after losing an important game, the pain/disappointed is visible. But there is never anger. Sure, he has every right to blow up at us, but most of the time, he doesn't. Instead, he chooses to approach us with empathy, console us if we are crying and tell us it was a "good game" even if we know outrightly that we played like rubbish.
Yes, some of us may feel as though our preparation work is not thorough enough. But there is a deadline and the deadline is Tuesday. Defensive penalties, offensive penalties, flicks, whatever. What we need is faith, and like Nordin taught us, "Believe in what you can believe in". Exploit the meaning of the phrase yourself, and try to achieve that calmness he always raved about.
Be confident of the match.
WE CAN WIN THE TROPHY TOGETHER.
